Buzz here in Vegas… from the local news to MSNBC, is that CES may be leaving its historic home of lights and full-filled, Las Vegas in coming years.

Hotel rates during this week have soared over recent years often charging attendees $400 or $500 a night for rooms that are usually under $200. And both attendees and exhibitors alike are beginning to complain. Loudly.

In fact, word on the street is that if you mention “CES” when you book a reservation, you’re often quoted a higher, instead of lower price for the room. Case in point, suites at the Venetian “for CES” were booked at upwards of $400 in advance, but “walk-ins” here on Saturday night were quoted a price much closer to $200.

Heard a stat that Las Vegas makes more than $2Million during the week CES comes to town. That would be an awful big chunk of change to walk away from.
